This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
It was a long time coming, but so worth the wait. We are anxious to see what the Lord has in store for our church and how we can affect the community and those in need. Welcome to our home, God's house. Please come and rejoice with us in worship, teaching, ministry, fellowship, and everything else God has planned.
Let There Be Light
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12
Turn on the lights and the darkness flees! Darkness only exists in the absence of light. In Genesis 1:3, God said, "Let there be Light, and there was light" and it was good! God had not created the sun, moon, or stars yet, so what was the light? It was His light, a pure light. Jesus said, He was the light of the world. It is also referred to as His Glory. Remember, Moses came down from the mountain after visiting God and God's glory still shown on his face, Exodus 34:29. Remember Luke 9:40 where Jesus was radiant in His glory in His Transfiguration meeting with Elijah and Moses? There is something about someone who walks with the Lord. There is a glow, a joy, a warmth, an inner light. This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine - a great little reminder to grow with God and glow with God. Be the beacon on a hill, be the light, be a lighthouse so that you can help lead others through the storms.
Taking Root
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalm 1:1-3
Sod is laid with the expectation that it is going to take root and prosper. Jesus laid down His life for mankind with expectations that we would take root in Him. The blessed man in Psalm 1:1-3 finds favor with God and he is compared to a tree planted by the rivers of water, bearing fruit, not withering, and prospering in all he does. (Side note: the Hebrew word for prosper does not necessarily mean money.) Trees living near water have deeply planted roots. They receive a lot of nourishment from the water. Trees that are deeply rooted are very strong and can withstand great storms. Question is, how did the blessed man, above, become so deeply rooted? He meditated day and night in the Word of God. The Bible, the Word, the Truth, that is our nourishment and when we study diligently in the Word, we too will be firmly planted in the Lord with strong deep roots. Jesus also confirmed in John 4:14 that if we drink the water He gives, we will not thirst.
The Steeple Here is the Church, Here is the Steeple, Open the doors, to see all the people.
The steeple is a familiar symbol, like the cross. When someone sees the cross, most will immediately associate it with Jesus' crucifixion and ressurection. When someone sees a steeple, they know it is a church. They know it is a community of like minded people. Many know this is a place where they can find peace and comfort. Some are drawn to it when they're in extreme need or hurt. Let us be like the steeple. Let us lift up God so that others can see us and know they are welcome. Everyone has burdens and all need Christ. Invite someone to come.
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. John 12:32
Inside - A Work in Progress Building a new house is a pretty big deal. But building a house of God is a massive undertaking. Not to exalt those church members that are responsible, we'll let God give them their just reward in heaven, but to recognize the undertaking, the enduring patience, and the perseverance to follow through with this enormous project is necessary. The love they must have for The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to take on such a project, grab the bull by the horns and take off with it and to bring it to completion.
Not every ministry will have such a massive project, but every ministry should have the love, desire, and fervor to do the work for God. Are we as diligent? Are we as passionate? Do we make excuses? This is why we need to use this as an example to follow. And what is it that God desires? And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Colossians 3:17
A WINDOW INTO THE SOUL
The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! Matthew 6:22-23
Just as you can peep into the windows to see the heart of the church, so can you peep into the windows of a person to see the heart and soul. The eyes are the windows into the soul and the verses above speak to their clarity and how well we can see. Windows are used to let in light and when they are clean, they allow for the most light to come in and it can reach into the farthest corners. When they are dirty, they limit the amount of light and darkness begins to prevail. The same is with our eyes. "...Thine eye be single" (the Greek word literally means without folds, so, clear). There's something miraculous about salvation in that you begin to see clearly and better understand the ways of God. When we are in the Word of God and seeing clearly, we take in the Light and others can see that in us when they look into our eyes. When we are not so faithful in the Word, our eyes begin to get cloudy, reducing the light coming in, and therefore, darkness begins to prevail. And others can see that as well, not only in our eyes, but also in our actions! So, get some Visine (BIBLE) and clear your eyes in the Word of God.
Roof - A Protective Covering He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Psalm 91:1-4
Just as a roof provides protection to the dwellers or contents of a building, so does God provide us cover and protection. The Psalmist starts off with, "He that dwelleth." "He" is choosing to take refuge in God. God will provide us cover and is willing, but are we seeking His protection? The more we seek His will, the more we will receive His blessings.
Internal Walls - Divisions For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. 1 Corinthians 12:12-14
MOST BUILDINGS HAVE INTERIOR WALLS as divisions are needed to have different rooms. However, as Christians, we are to be united in Christ. We all have differences and that is what makes us unique; different gifts, different ideas, and different functions for the body of Christ. What's the quote... "United we stand, divided we fall". Today, Satan strives to divide the family, the country, and the church. Division takes the focus away from Jesus and puts it where it doesn't belong. We must stand strong in the Lord together and not give Satan any victories!
The 'Threshing' Floor The threshing floor is where farmers collect their wheat harvest and beat it to separate the kernel from the chaff (the hull covering the kernel.) The wheat kernel is heavy and falls to the floor, where the chaff is light weight and rises in the air to be blown away by the wind. The wheat kernel is valuable and nutritious. The chaff has little to no value.
The Bible references of the threshing floor have connotations of blessing (Joel 2:24), judgment (Matt 3:12), and the place where sins can be forgiven. The first house of the Lord, the Jewish temple, was built on a threshing floor (2 Chr 3:1) where David had built an altar to offer up a sacrifice to God so that his sins would be forgiven. This was also the place where Abraham had built an altar.
The picture of the separating the wheat from the chaff is an image used to describe Jesus separating those that are saved (whose sins have been forgiven - the wheat) and those that are not (the chaff) at the end times.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:16-17
Come to the threshing floor, find your faith and salvation, so that your sins will be forgiven and you may be among the wheat when Jesus comes to gather it. May God Bless you!
Build That Wall Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. 1 Thessalonians 5:11
To edify means to build up. So the verse above encourages us to comfort ourselves 'together' and to build each other up. Just as our wall came in pieces, it was built by placing these pieces together and securing them so that each piece gave support to the ones beside it. The finished wall has great support, strength, and protection. As brothers and sisters in Christ, let us also support one another, build each other up, and stand strong together like our church walls.
Groundbreaking... Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, "Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste." Isaiah 28:16
Five years later, we are ready
All about the Foundation Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, "Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste." Isaiah 28:16
Five years later, we are ready to get started building! But before the first wall can be put up, a strong and secure foundation must be laid and the ground must be prepared for it. Just like a building, we also need a strong foundation in our faith and, as stated above, God has laid that foundation for us in Jesus Christ, which is confirmed in 1 Corinthians 3:11: For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. He is big enough for us all to stand on, and even though we will encounter storms, we will not be shaken off of Him!
Preparations... Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it...Psalm 127:1
Waiting on God's timing is not always easy, but doing so pays off, because His way is always the best way! Our motto is: 'It's not about us, It's all about Him!' We have been so excited about building this house for the Lord, but by waiting on Him and letting Him build it, we have been so blessed and can't wait to pay it forward and share those blessings with others!
In the beginning... On the third day... And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.Genesis 1:9-10
We are very excited at True Light Baptist Church that God has provided the land on which we will build His church to further His kingdom. We were able to purchase this land in 2013 and have painstakingly waited on God's timing to move forward to build His church. We eagerly await the opportunity for God to use us to further bless this community and share His message of hope and salvation!
